The Bailliage of Greater Washington invites you to join us for our annual Summer Sojourn — this year to historic Frederick, Maryland, where fine food, fellowship, and architectural drama come together at Wye Oak Tavern, located within the beautifully restored Visitation Hotel Frederick.

Set in the former chapel of the historic Visitation Academy, built in 1852, Wye Oak Tavern retains its stained glass, marble details, and the sense of occasion that comes from dining in a space originally created for ceremony and community. It is, in every respect, a room worthy of a Chaîne evening.

At the heart of the evening is Bryan Voltaggio — Frederick’s own nationally recognized chef, James Beard Award finalist, and Top Chef and Top Chef Masters finalist. This spring, he claimed Food Network’s Tournament of Champions VII, claiming the championship belt and $150,000 prize in a dramatic finale that had the culinary world riveted.

Wye Oak Tavern is itself a homecoming — a joint venture between Bryan and his Michelin-starred brother Michael Voltaggio, two Frederick natives who carried their hometown’s culinary pride to the highest levels of the profession, and brought it back. For our evening, Chef Voltaggio has crafted a bespoke menu of Mid-Atlantic delicacies — a journey from whimsical to sublime, rooted in regional tradition and elevated by technique that is unmistakably Voltaggio. Each course will be accompanied by wines selected to complement and surprise. Chef Voltaggio is expected to guide us through the evening, sharing the inspiration behind each course as it arrives.

This promises to be an evening of ceremony as well as cuisine — a fitting tribute to a chef who has long embodied the spirit of our Confrérie.
